Cage for rats?
I bought a baby rat a week ago and have been keeping him in a glass aquarium until I could find a suitable cage. I have looked at all the local pet stores, since I cannot order one online and I have no local PetSmarts/PetCos., and the only things that I could find that might be able to work are bird cages and CritterTrail cages. I was wondering which would be best for the little guy. If I were to buy a bird cage, what types of things could I put inside to create levels or other things of enjoyment? The CritterTrails look very entertaining, and already come with tubes and levels. I was looking at these three in particular that one pet store had in stock:
CritterTrail 2http://www.superpetusa.com/catalog/viewone.asp?itemNumber=60525
CritterTrail Xhttp://www.superpetusa.com/catalog/viewone.asp?itemNumber=60518
CritterTrail Dazzle http://www.superpetusa.com/catalog/viewone.asp?itemNumber=60523
I personally like CritterTrail 2. What are your opinions on these cages or a bird cage?
crittertrails are way way way too small for even 1 rats (you really should have gotten 2 rats are very social creatures)
A bird cage can work if it is large enough here are some ways to make levels and modifications if needed.

Flea’s anyone?
I just moved into my new home, and my pets are loving the outsides again. With that comes a pest problem. I have just discovered fleas on some of my pets. I have 3 cats and only one of them has fleas. I also have one dog, who has feas as well, whome I just gave a bath. I treated the carpeded area of the house, and powdered my cat who has the flea’s. My question would be, how to keep them off my animals, and out of my brand new home? Please help. We ALL hate those biting creatures, and I have a feeling that they are coming from the outside somehow. It’s a new development, and nothing used to be in this area, except trees.
Take the critters to the vet and get them prescription flea medicine — Frontline, Advantage, etc. It is about $6-10 a month depending on the animal. DO NOT buy store brand medicine such as Hartz –there is not a requirement for safety in these medicines and these products have bad side reactions and have even caused DEATH in some animals!!!!

What are some ideas of pet?
I want to make it unique. No dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, hamsters, pigs ginuea .. must be maintained in my room and easy to care too.
1) giant Madagascar hissing cockroaches. How much easier do you get? No carry germs (microbes only come if not kept clean the cage), does not bite, scratch, etc. Very easy to feed, easy to house, do not stink (again, can stink if you do not keep their cage clean) only reproduce if you have men and women and sex are easy so you can maintain separately if necessary. Adults are in their climbing and most do not fly any of them. If you happen to leave the cage, he will not live long enough to cause infestations because they need more moisture than usually in our homes, which are different, they are freaky, and they're cheap! 2) Giant African Centipede: See all the reasons above! Just be careful not to confuse centipede! The only difference here is that you can spit a yellow liquid which can then stain the skin and can cause a light rash on the very few people. Never I've seen that cause a personal problem, though ….. = 0)

Favorites large chain of pet stores and why?
Also favorite online store or catalog, and why?
For supplies, I like Petco and www.reptilesupply.com. For animals, I will not go near Petco more. I've had many bad experiences, and my vet (who is also the veterinarian for our local Petco) does not like either. They are always bringing their sick, almost dead animals. I personally do not trust any large chain pet stores. They do not have the time or people need more space to care for as many animals as they have done.

How long can you leave your laundry in the family pets?
So my girlfriend has a cat that is very old, somewhere about 14 years, bought one of those t-shirts for pets and since his hair to fall out, not horrible but its getting diapers and thin, he wondered if his good just leave it on him, I said it would probably take it from time to time so you can clean and whatnot, does anyone know how long one of these garments may be on a pet?
I would say that out in time you can monitor. Especially cats can get suck, or get his jaw (teeth) trapped in the material, and are contortionists who knows little to work that could be left unattended. I'de house as long as you leave it on. But if you leave the house and at night, take it off!
