What is a reasonable amount for a family of 5 to spend on food each week?

2 adults, 3 children 14, 10 and 8. 2 dogs, a large breed a small breed and two cats indoors. Is $ 100 a week a reasonable amount to spend on food, toiletries, pet food, towels paper, etc?

According to the U.S. Statistical Abstract of the U.S. average of 5 family spends $ 4,397 per year on food for a total of $ 84.56 per week. However, this family also spends $ 1,832 a year on eating out. Or $ 35.23 per week. At the time set for your pets sounds like you are about "average."

How long would you look for a lost pet?

If you lost your dog or cat, how long would you continue looking for your pet? Until they are found? Forever? Or, 3 days? 4 days? 3 weeks? 3 months?

I used to work at an animal shelter. I have seen people find their lost pets after years of looking. Once a husky who had been missing for 7 years turned up at our shelter; another time a Scottish Terrier who had been stolen from his yard 5 years previously came in. Both were reunited with shocked but happy owners.
Cats also can be gone for years before returning, and they are known to hitch rides on planes etc. Fewer cats are reunited with their owners than dogs because people do not give them as much identification (tags, tatoos, microchips) as they do dogs. About 54% of lost dogs are identified and reunited with their owners, only about 4% of cats, at least at the shelter where I worked.
I’ve never seen a lost bird reunited with its owner, perhaps because the climate in Canada is too harsh for the tropical birds we tend to keep as pets. Also, pet birds are much more vulnerable to predators than wild ones.
As a child, I lived in a rural area and lost my cat . He never came back, but I kept looking for a year. Now that I am older, I do not let my cats go out unattended as I’ve seen all the terrible things that can happen to them. Also, they can put a sizeable dent in the songbird population as they are not native to North America.

Has Anyone Else Raised and Trained a “Pet” Silver Fox From a Fur Farm?

A fur farm was closing, and all of their stock was for sale, a good friend of mine bought a young silver fox (black like a black cat with silvered hair tips) and raised her in the home. She walks on a leash with a cat harness and lounges on the couch and digs to China when in her outdoor enclosure. She’s thinking of adding a neutered male platinum fox as a companion. Has anyone else raised and trained ranched foxes (Vulpes vulpes) like this?

Is my cat depressed or just lazy?

I have a pet cat that i’ve brought up since he was a kitten he is now 2yrs old. He use to be a happy playful cat i could play with and he enjoyed being patted. Ever since he turned 2 all he does is sit around and sleep. Sometimes he wont even eat and now he is getting skinny. He wont even play with my other cat when he tries to play with him. He wont even play with the toys i give him. I pat him but he only can take it for a few seconds then walks away. He’s always looking tired. Does that mean he’s depressed, sad or just a lazy cat who likes to sleep a lot.

Around the age of two, most pets go through a personality change. They will – as they mature appear to thin out, eat a bit less then when they were a kitten – and even sleep a bit more. BUT – If he is doing these things to the point where you feel compelled to ask this question here, then it is obviously bothering you enough that you sense they are not just normal “growing changes”.
I would definitely have him checked out by a vet to be sure there is not something else wrong. Take a fresh fecal sample and let them run some blood work.

What does your cat passed out again?

This may be a stupid or common sense, but I'm still learning! What is the human being can do something that cats love or appreciate? Well, besides pet .. rub .. scratches .. toys .. a clean litter box and an occasional scoop of tuna? I am preparing to bring me a bit in my new apartment (after some serious thought New age .. explain that the questions) and really I want to feel good and content. I was curious to know what cats do pro owners that cats just love it. Thanks for any help!

I think Most importantly give much attention and affection to your cat as a kitten. When I took my cat home, went to mourn for hours, so I followed him around and slept there where he had to sleep. Under a desk, under a table in the cupboard. (Yes, I really did all these things and I do not regret a bit) It's been eight years and my cat goes where I go. New York, Chicago, San Francisco. He wakes me for work, waiting for me down the toilet when I shower, go to the bathroom with me (# 1 and # 2), eat when eat, sleep when I sleep, I wait for the door when I take out the garbage, etc. .. Only appreciate every little thing I can do for him. Remember that cats, love more you give, the more they will return. People who say that cats are separated are people who never gave enough attention to your cat. My cat is fiercely loyal to me and always tries to interact with me.
